It is amazing how much this art form has changed over the years, from the old days when a stencil was cut from
oiled heavy paper and the powdered pigments were pounced on the sticky shellac with a rosin bag, to todays
techniques. Stenciling is now no longer restricted to using just paints or powders. Various mediums can be
troweled through stencils creating a raised image. Gold, Silver, and Copper leaf can be applied thorough a one
time use stencil called a Modello and images can be imbedded into a faux finish to give an old world look
that creates depth and dimension. The options are endless and only limited by your imagination. It is possible
to embellish even the most simple feature in your home and make it become the beautiful focal point you always
knew it could be.
